Here is a picture of what my eye looked like after the exenteration (eye and lids removed). It was a drastic surgery and the skin graft over the eye cavity is my thigh skin which I have a picture of further down in my blog.

As of September, 2013, I am done with seeing my ocular oncologist unless something is happening with my right eye. I just went to Dr. Minor, my oncologist and everything is fine.

In December of this year, it will be my 7 year NEDiversary!

(No evidence of disease!!!)

The Bono Look

Update 2/2013

Update after getting my ocular prosthesis-

In January I went to Owings Mills, MD and had my procedure done. I will need to go back in April for some tweaks to it. Adhesive issues and magnet issues. It is a very interesting process, Juan Garcia, Anaplastologist makes it from being there live, no pictures to do it from long distance. Juan does amazing work and I am so grateful that this could be done for me! It's nice to be able to wear regular glasses indoors instead of rocking the Bono look! Although, I must say that my prescription sunglasses rock!

This is an example of the prosthestic work for my eye. I will have this process in January 2013. I will also have a CT scan in January, but so far I have no evidence of disease. It will be 6 years clear in December!

My Latest Step Towards a Prosthetic Facial Implant

In September I went back to Philadelphia to have some titanium rods inserted into my eye cavity. I am healing nicely...

June 2012

I had some surgery at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia to debulk the skin tissue over my eye cavity. It looks great and should be able to support my prosthesis. I will go back to have titanium implants attached to the bone in the eye socket in September.
